About Us

The Friends of the Goochland Branch Library, Inc. (Friends) are dedicated to our mission of “supporting library programs by volunteering time, energy and talent.” We are advocates for citizen involvement and community support. Friends work to:
• Provide financial support for all library programs including the literacy program partnership between the Goochland Branch
Library and the Goochland school system.
• Fund summer reading programs for children and adults.
• Finance special library projects, such as buying computers for use by library patrons and providing furniture for the library’s
patio.
• Provide refreshments for story hour and other library events.

Friends got its start in 1998 when a small group of neighbors who loved their local branch library wanted a dedicated and organized way to show that love. Friends of the Goochland Branch Library, Inc. is tax exempt under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as a public charity, and contributions are deductible for federal and Virginia income tax purposes to the extent permitted by law.

Today, the Friends have grown to some 100+ members. Our motto is: Loving Literacy! Cultivating Community!
