The American Legion in Goochland County was chartered in 1946 as part of the Nation’s largest wartime veterans’ organizations. Formed of local veterans and their families it is an organization dedicated to serving fellow service members and veterans and sponsoring programs in the schools such as the Oratorical Contest, the Americanism Essay Contest, Boys State, Girls State and Youth Cadet Law Enforcement.
Post 215 Goochland support programs at Hunter Homes McGuire Veterans Medical Center, shelters for homeless veterans, the USO and Military families at Ft. Lee, Boy Scouts, and the MCROTC program at Goochland High School. They host monthly Membership Meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM welcoming all veterans and their family. Every month they reach out into the community and assist with other group events and host their own when not otherwise engaged.
